There’s no greater reward than successfully navigating your way to a new destination that you previously only read about in a sailing pilot guide. For those new to the clear blue waters of the Ionian in Greece, sailing to a different island or port every day of your holiday is a reality. All the Ionian Islands are truly unique in many ways, though you will find that wherever you sail, you can be sure of a warm welcome.

For some, it can be great fun devising your own Ionian yacht charter itinerary. Others might want to follow our suggested Ionian sailing route. Whatever you decide, you have our full support and back-up at all times.

Your sailing holiday adventure begins on the stunning island of Kefalonia. On arrival, you will have a chance to settle in before the handover begins and discuss any aspects of your sailing itinerary over a cool drink. The yacht handover includes a thorough briefing and demonstration that skipper and crew must attend in order to become familiar with all aspects of the sailing yacht, particularly safety.

Legal Requirements for Bareboat Sailing Yacht Charter:

For bareboat sailing yacht charters, Greek law requires that the yacht skipper has at least a RYA Day Skipper or International Certificate of Competence or national equivalent. The port police also recognise any official paper from a sailing school or other relevant organisation that has tested and can verify your sailing ability. Also, one crew member must have some previous sailing experience and be able to handle the yacht in case of emergency.

Now offered FREE with every charter, this course is particularly useful for crew, who will learn a number of essential sailing techniques necessary afloat and become a valued team member.

Skippered Sailing Yacht Charter

This is a perfect option for those with little or no sailing experience looking to cruise the best locations around the Ionian Islands with a professional skipper. For those wanting to visit the Ionian during the quieter part of the season, then take advantage of our free skipper offer during May and October. Usually a busy time for us so enquire early for these periods. 

Our skippers are RYA qualified yacht sailing instructors, with experience teaching RYA Learn to Sail courses in the Ionian. Not simply your onboard guide, he'll be keen to tutor anyone with a desire to learn sailing. All those ‘would be’ sailors – here’s your chance!! Depending on how enthusiastic you are, there is always a possibility you’ll return next year for your first bareboat sailing holiday.

Previous sailing experience is not required although a willingness to assist in the handling of the boat will be necessary at times.
