Day 11: 13 Nmiles, Thursday, Sailing from Vassiliki, Lefkas to Kioni, Ithaca
Destination Vassiliki, Meganisi
About Vassiliki
A relaxed and pleasant place, the village of Vassiliki is not large, and still retains a lot of its older buildings. There is a very pleasant harbour front area with pavement cafes and restaurants. The harbour is a popular stopping off point for bareboat and skippered sailing yacht charters and is also a boarding point for the ferry to Kefalonia and Ithaca in the main summer season.
The bay at Vassiliki is noted for its afternoon wind known as 'Eric’ and the sight of hundreds of windsurfers speeding across the water is spectacular. There are some pleasant walks, especially around the coast to the south of the harbour where you will find an old wash-house with ice-cold water flowing through tubs out into the sea.

Pilotage
Look for the white lighthouse on Ak Dhoukato. When you are in entrance you will see buildings at Pondi in the NW corner. Look out for sailboards during busy season..

Yacht Facilities and Provisions
Water is provided on the quay and fuel on the outskirts of the village. Most other provisions can be found in the village..

Yacht Sailing Conditions
Sailing along the south coast of Lefkas is really quite beautiful. Afternoon winds provide some fun and challenging sailing conditions. Morning wind strength is typically light.

Eating Out
Good choice of tavernas around the harbour.
