Day 8: 8 Nmiles, Monday, Sailing from Lefkas Town, Lefkas to Nydri, Lefkas
Destination Lefkas Town, Lefkas
About Lefkas Town
The architecture in Lefkas Town is a mix of traditional Greek combined with earthquake-proof buildings, sometimes varying from one storey to the next. The vividly coloured buildings give Lefkas Town a character of its own.
Lefkas Town also has a tradition for arts and literature. It was the birthplace of two poets and every August there is a Festival of Arts and Literature from around the world.
Whether or not Lefkas is truly a Greek Island or part of the mainland has never been clear. It is separated from the mainland via a ‘floating bridge’ which spans a canal, originally thought to have been created by the Corinthians. Today it attracts many skippered and bareboat charters and is worth a visit to see some of its stunning beaches.
