| Pilotage Aghios Nikolaos is on the NE of Zakynthos. If you are arriving from the north, then once you spot the fabulous, must see blue water caves of Skinari, you are just a couple of miles away from this friendly little port. As you sail south, from the blue water caves, you’ll see the islet of Aghios Nikolaos. Motor between the islet and Zakynthos and the harbour becomes clear. Mooring is available alongside the large concrete apron on the southern side of the bay or stern or bows-to in the W and SW corner. If you prefer you can anchor and take a line to the rocks south of the Southern Quay. Yacht Facilities and Provisions There are a couple of enterprising families here who can organise pretty much anything you wish. Extremely friendly and efficient, you couldn’t be in better hands. Fuel can be delivered to your yacht by truck and should you fancy a day on land, they can arrange for a hire car to be with you in less than 30 minutes. Yacht Sailing Conditions If you have arrived from the north, then you may have motored till midday. However, as the day warms, the NW wind kicks in, providing some fantastic downwind yacht sailing, the whole way to Aghios Nikolaos and further down the east coast if Zakynthos town is your next port. Make sure the blue water caves of Skinari are on your sailing itinerary, then anchor up in the bay and enjoy some wonderful snorkelling. Let your imagination run riot as you swim in the stunning cobalt blue water. So vivid that it turns the rocky waterline into a magical sky blue. Eating Out Enjoy tasty, home-cooked Greek cuisine from one of the two family run Greek restaurants. |
